Visiting your Family
Garland Behavioral Hospital believes that the participation of family and friends is crucial to recovery. We encourage loved ones to visit patients, offering a friendly face and an extra partner in the healing process. In addition to standard visitation and phone hours, we offer a Multi-Family Group weekly on both of our adult units. Multi-Family Group is a structured group to discuss psychoeducational topics relevant to the patient and their support person to improve communication and recovery. This group is lead by a licensed social worker or therapist and is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet members of the treatment team. We ask that families arrive promptly and stay for the full duration of the Multi-Family Group.
All visitors must sign in and out at the 5th-floor reception desk. Visitors must provide personal identification, and a patient ID number for the person they’re visiting. No more than two people may visit a patient at a time. Visitors may not bring purses, bags, cell phones, briefcases or cameras. Garland Behavioral Hospital provides lockers to secure visitor belongings. Outside food and drink are not permitted. Please see our What to Bring page for more details on what is prohibited. Clergy, attorneys and Adult Protective Services can visit at any time, provided the patient has signed a release of information form. Persons under 18 are not permitted to visit the units.
