Acute Inpatient Care for Adults
The Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Program at Garland Behavioral Hospital treats adults who are in immediate emotional and mental crisis situations. We focus on providing treatment and medication management that helps them stabilize their condition, instill new coping skills to restore healthier life functioning, and promote lifelong mental health. We take a “whole person” approach to treatment, engaging family and the patient’s support system to help improve wellness and prevent relapse.
Our program is designed for patients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, bipolar disorder, substance use issues or other mood disorders. Patients who require admission to our inpatient programs are often experiencing significant impairment in functioning at home, work and school or within their community. This may include being a danger to themselves or others, displaying a severe impairment in judgment, or psychotic features that place individuals at risk. To ensure comfort, our inpatient unit is currently separated by gender. Both our all male and all female units feature private rooms to help patients feel at ease and secure.
Each patient admitted to our program will receive an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs. Though program features vary depending on the needs of the patients, it often includes group, family and individual therapy. We firmly support family involvement, so we’ll bring in loved ones for group and family therapy as necessary and as approved by the patient.
