Specialized Women’s DBT Program with Postpartum Treatment
The Women’s DBT Specialty Unit at Garland Behavioral Hospital teaches DBT skills to encourage women to learn and utilize skills needed to live a mindful and balanced life. Our goal is to walk alongside you as you process your emotions and empower you in your next steps of emotional wellness.
What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy was created to help individuals better understand and manage their emotions to gain a sense of self and improve relationships with others. This occurs with acceptance and non-judgment at the forefront of all treatment. DBT utilizes four main modules: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance
and interpersonal effectiveness which are taught in a supportive environment by peers and skilled staff.
Within our Women’s Specialty Program, we offer an additional track for women experiencing Postpartum Depression and other postpartum mood disorders. Postpartum Depression affects one in eight mothers* and, if not treated, can negatively impact the health of the mother and baby. Our postpartum track provides evidence-based treatment to address safety and functional concerns and equip the mother to be able to face the challenges motherhood presents.
